
Working Philosophy
A servant leader who continuously seeks increased administrative and leadership responsibility to serve the policing profession, its members, and the community in a large, diverse university setting. A frequently called-upon resource within the police department. Seeks to empower entire communities towards a safer environment in a creative, respectful, team-based, strategic, and dialogic manner.
Experience
1993 – 2019: University of Illinois Police, Urbana, Illinois
Promotions: Corporal – 2000; Sergeant – 2004; Lieutenant – 2015
Progressive responsibility as a police officer, trainer, and servant to the community. Have served in traditional police roles and administration. Specialties include grant writing, training, problem solving and analysis, and community development around the issues of policing in a diverse society, response to sexual and dating violence.
1991 – Present: Public Engagement
An engaging, energetic and effective speaker and trainer. RAD and radKIDS trainer since 1996. Speaking engagements include lawmaker summits, international organization conferences, television news specials in major Midwest markets, and local community dialogues

Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership. Special focus on Servant Leadership as a method to instill justice and community-oriented service attitudes.

Bachelor of Arts. Rhetoric with a minor in Russian Language and Literature
Volunteer
2012-2015: Rape Advocacy Counseling and Education Services
Board member for the local rape crisis center. Served as president of the board. Still maintain close ties with training and building bridges between the police department and center.

Chancellor’s Distinguished Staff Award, 2013
One of eight university staff members to be recognized for outstanding achievement in service to the university and its community in 2013.
Police Chief’s Award
Awarded on three occasions since 1999 for outstanding service to students, department members and greater community.
Officer of the Year, 1995
Nominated for and selected by peers for this honor.
